Kamoa Copper proudly took centre stage as a Diamond Plus Sponsor at the 20th edition of DRC Mining Week, held from 11 to 14 June 2025 in Lubumbashi. This prestigious annual event brought together industry leaders, government representatives, and development partners to reflect on two decades of progress in the Congolese mining sector.

This year’s theme, “20 Years of Mining Transformation in the DRC: Investing in Infrastructure Development and Energy Security,” set the tone for dynamic discussions.
At the official opening ceremony, Managing Director Annebel Oosthuizen delivered a keynote address highlighting the DRC’s role in the global energy transition.
“We have the resources, we have the expertise, and we have the determination to ensure the DRC’s leadership in the energy transition,” she said.
On Day 1, Ndimi Bodika, Director of Energy Projects at Ivanhoe Mines one of the JV partners, presented Kamoa’s energy strategy during the Energy Investment Forum, outlining both challenges and our practical, forward-looking solutions.
The following day, Chairman of the Board Olivier Binyingo joined a high-level panel on positioning the DRC as a leading mining country. He emphasised the nation’s current global standing and called for renewed investor confidence:
“We are already leaders. But that doesn’t mean we can’t go further or do better.”

On Day 3, Mrs. Oosthuizen returned to the stage at the Women, Mining and Leadership Forum, sharing her journey as the first female Managing Director of Kamoa Copper. She delivered a powerful call for inclusive leadership rooted in action, empathy, and sustainability:
“This industry doesn’t just need hands. It needs hearts and minds capable of building long-term solutions.”

Throughout the week, our booth attracted hundreds of visitors, including Prime Minister Judith Suminwa, who visited on the final day with other national and provincial leaders. Their interest in Kamoa’s innovation, sustainability, and community development efforts was a proud moment for all involved.
As we continue to lead in the mining sector, Kamoa Copper remains committed to collaboration, innovation, and shared growth for the DRC and its people.
